DHS Continues to Strengthen Border Security, Reduce Irregular Migration, and Mobilize International Partnerships

The Biden-Harris Administration is intensifying international efforts to combat irregular migration through strategic measures. This includes expanding transit visas and enhancing passenger vetting to curb extracontinental migration. Collaborative actions with Mexico have strengthened enforcement, reducing border encounters significantly. Through agreements like the Los Angeles Declaration, DHS is improving information sharing to preempt threats to U.S. security. The administration has also increased removal flights and imposed transit visa requirements to discourage irregular migration routes. Additionally, targeted sanctions and visa restrictions are being enforced against entities involved in migrant smuggling. Efforts to expand lawful pathways include establishing Safe Mobility Offices and country-specific parole processes for nationals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. These initiatives aim to facilitate safe travel and address migration challenges while enhancing border security and promoting family reunification.
