Migrants Bused to VP Harris’ Home

On what is said to be one of the coldest Christmas Eve’s that the nation’s capital has experienced, about 130 immigrants from Texas were supposed to be bussed to New York but ended up arriving at Vice President Kamala Harris’ home after a rerouting. On Christmas Day, volunteers expected three buses carrying immigrants to arrive in New York, but due to road restrictions and the bitter cold, the vehicles were diverted to the Washington region.

According to the mutual assistance organization, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, which executes orders from Governor Greg Abbott’s administration, dispatched the buses. Apparently, Texas has been sending buses full of immigrants over to Washington on a number of occasions for political purposes. These acts have been deemed cruel and awful since they are using people to get their spectacles across.

After a thirty-six-hour trek, these migrants arrived in Washington, some carrying little more than a t-shirt or a small blanket. The mutual assistance organization helped with organizing the migrants’ travel and accommodation needs by donating food, jackets, shoes, and other warm clothes to help them stay warm in below-freezing temperatures. In a statement put out on Christmas Day, the White House denounced the busing of immigrants to Washington. From the point of view of Abdullah Hasan, a spokesperson for the White House, Texas Governor Abbott abandoned children on the side of the road in below-freezing weather on Christmas Eve without consulting any federal or local officials which was a harsh, risky, and dishonorable stunt.
