National Visa Center Reports a 5.6% Increase in Immigrant Visa Backlog in February

The National Visa Center (NVC) under the Department of State has reported a 5.6% increase in the immigrant visa (IV) backlog, from 386,787 cases last month to 408,456 cases in February. However, the number of green card applicants with documentarily complete cases, which are cases where all required forms and documents have been submitted and accepted by the NVC and are ready for an interview to be scheduled, increased by nearly 20,000 from 422,954 to 444,828. The number of people scheduled for green card interviews remained relatively stable, with only a small increase of around 200 from January to February. In February, the NVC scheduled 36,372 interviews, compared to 36,167 in January.
