New York Mayor Eric Adams is displeased with Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s new immigration policy regarding migrants. He implemented this policy that requires migrants to be released by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection after being stopped at the border so they could receive free transportation to New York and Washington. Abbott is providing free transit to the nation’s capital, which is more enticing for these immigrants, as it is a more lucrative choice than paying for transportation to Texas. These newly arrived asylum seekers are being shipped to cities on the east coast as opposed to settling near the border.
The governor’s actions, according to him, show that Texas is not accepting these immigrants when this country is built on a foundation where immigrants can restart their lives and have access to new opportunities. While these states are the most ideal destinations for them to start anew, it is important for other states to welcome these immigrations so the border towns can find support there.
