Pregnant Refugee’s Daughter Becomes Member of Congress

By January 9, 2023January 11th, 2023No Comments

Many years ago, a pregnant woman crossed the Rio Grande border in search of a better life for her unborn child. Currently, her daughter is being elected to become a member of Congress. Delia Ramirez is the woman who has joined the United States government in order to speak out and protect the dreamers of the nation. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program also known as DACA is a policy that protects eligible “dreamer” immigrants who arrived in the United States when they were children from deportation.

Delia Ramirez is extremely passionate about the subject of DACA as it is extremely personal for her. It hits close to home because Ramirez’s husband may be one of the thousands of immigrants who might be deported if Congress does nothing about the matter of protecting and preserving the DACA program. Furthermore, with Ramirez’s impending election to Congress, she has the opportunity to raise awareness on the maintenance of the policy.

As a result of her background, and early life experiences, Ramirez claims that throughout the years, some of her political rivals have attempted to exploit information from her past against her, accusing her of supporting open borders and disparaging her family in speeches. Delia Ramirez, however, views the history of her family as a positive that has allowed her to connect with people and have a deeper understanding of the concerns of her supporters. Her and her family’s story is inspiring and has the potential to give hope and optimism to thousands of immigrants undergoing similar circumstances to her.
