B1/B2 Visitor Visa Attorney

Visitor Visas for Non-Immigrants

The B visa categories are for individuals with limited purpose in the U.S. who have non-immigrant intent. The B2 category is for tourist or visitor purposes only. On a B2 visa, the alien may not engage in any employment or attend school. The B1 category allows an alien to conduct the following activities:

  • Traveling for a scientific, educational, professional or business convention, or a conference on specific dates
  • Settling an estate
  • Negotiating a contract
  • Participating in short-term training
  • Transiting through the United States: certain persons may transit the United States with a B-1 visa
  • Deadheading: certain air crewmen may enter the United States as deadhead crew with a B-1 visa

In both B visa categories, you must be able to prove the following:

  • You intend to remain in the U.S. for a limited period of time
  • You have enough funds to cover your trip to and stay in the U.S.
  • You have no intention of abandoning your home country and residence abroad
