Survey Highlights Sharp Immigration Divide Between Biden and Trump Supporters

By June 14, 2024June 15th, 2024No Comments

A recent Pew Research Center survey on immigration attitudes and the 2024 election highlights significant differences between supporters of Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Among Biden supporters, 59% advocate for legal residency or citizenship for undocumented immigrants. In stark contrast, 63% of Trump supporters favor a nationwide deportation effort.

The survey also reveals shifting views, with an increasing number of Republicans opposing legal status for undocumented immigrants. Within each political camp, demographic variations exist: Hispanic Trump supporters are more open to legal pathways, while Biden supporters, regardless of demographics, generally support immigration and the use of multiple languages in public spaces.

Director Ur M. Jaddou emphasizes, “CITA grants expand resources for organizations to help immigrants improve English skills, learn U.S. history and government, and prepare for citizenship.”

Aligned with President Biden’s Executive Order 14012, USCIS seeks to reduce barriers to naturalization and broaden accessibility, particularly for remote and vulnerable populations.

Up to seven organizations will receive grants up to $400,000 each for three years, starting October 1, 2024.
