Updates on Guidance on In-Person Filing for Certain SIJ Petitioners

By June 14, 2024June 15th, 2024No Comments

USCIS is updating its Policy Manual to clarify filing procedures for certain petitioners seeking special immigrant juvenile (SIJ) classification or their representatives. SIJ petitioners within two weeks of turning 21 can file Form I-360 in person at a USCIS field office, rather than by mail. They should contact the USCIS Contact Center to arrange an expedited appointment. For those not nearing their 21st birthday, filing by mail remains the standard procedure according to current instructions. This update aims to assist SIJ petitioners facing challenges in meeting filing deadlines due to court delays or other issues.
