USCIS Announces Adjusted Premium Processing Fees Due to Inflation

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has recently unveiled a final rule outlining an increase in filing fees for Form I-907, known as the “Request for Premium Processing,” due to inflation.

The USCIS Stabilization Act initially established the current premium processing fees and granted the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) the authority to periodically adjust these fees. After maintaining these fees unchanged for three years following the Act’s enactment, DHS has now decided to raise the premium processing fees for all eligible forms and categories. This increase is based on the inflation rate recorded from June 2021 through June 2023, as determined by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U). As a result, specific premium processing fees will see adjustments, increasing from $1,500 to $1,685, $1,750 to $1,965, and $2,500 to $2,805.

The additional revenue generated from this premium processing fee adjustment will be allocated towards several key purposes, including enhancing premium processing services, improving adjudication processes, addressing adjudication demands, reducing processing backlogs for benefit requests, and supporting USCIS adjudication and naturalization services.

Effective February 26, 2024, the new fee structure will come into effect. If USCIS receives a Form I-907 postmarked on or after February 26, 2024, with an incorrect filing fee, the Form I-907 will be rejected, and the filing fee will be returned. For filings sent through commercial courier services like UPS, FedEx, and DHL, the postmark date is the date indicated on the courier receipt.
